43 Artists Selected for 27th Annual Small Images Exhibition at SBCC’s Atkinson Gallery

Santa Barbra, CA - The Atkinson Gallery is pleased to announce the 27th annual Small Images exhibition. The show, always popular in the Santa Barbara community, will kick off with an opening reception and awards ceremony on the evening of October 5th, from 5–7pm.
During the ingathering this past weekend, 281 artworks by 137 artists were submitted for review. A total of 54 pieces from 43 artists including Noel Alander, Christina Altfeld, Kit Boise-Cossart, Liz Brady, Pheobe Brunner, Pat Calonne, Connie Connally, Nicholas Coroneos, Joseph Disipio, Rick Doehring, Julia Ford, Anna Gardner, Rosemarie C. Gebhart, Nancy Heffron, Carolyn Hubbs, Colleen M. Kelly, Philip Koplin, Frank Krifka, Leslie Lewis Sigler, Nevin Littlehale, Cody Lynch, Saritha Margon, Cynthia Martin, Jim McAninch, Virginia McCracken, Nicole McKee, Zacarias Paul & Saul
Gray-Hildenbrand, Maria Rendon, George Sanders, Zoe Serbin, Gail Stichler, Marlene Struss, Patricia Tierney, Sandra Torres, Terry K. Uyehara, Sue Van Horsen, Debora Walsh, Nina Warner, Roe Anne White, Monica Wiesblott, Joyce Wilson, and Pamela Zwehl-Burke were selected to be on display in the gallery this month. Award winners will be announced during Friday’s reception.
This year, the new director of the Atkinson Gallery, Sarah Cunningham, served as juror. During her career, she has curated over thirty contemporary art exhibitions and has previously served as the director of the College of New Jersey Art Gallery, the curator of exhibitions and public programs at the Alice Austen House Museum, executive director/curator of the Albany Center Galleries and, most recently, acuratorial consultant for Rutherfurd Hall. Cunningham received her BA in American Studies from Tufts University and her MFA in Art Photography from Syracuse University. Ms. Cunningham will lead a
discussion of the work on exhibit on Wednesday, October 17 from 4:30-5:30pm.
