RADIANCE
February 20-April 20, 2013
Opening Reception: Wednesday, February 20, 5-7pm
Location: Atkinson Gallery Annex in Gourmet Dining Room
Santa Barbara, CA – The Atkinson Gallery at Santa Barbara City College is delighted to announce the February 20th opening of “Radiance” – the first Atkinson Gallery Annex exhibition of the year. Curated by Atkinson Gallery Intern, Emilia Dattilo, “Radiance” features nine SBCC student artists whose diverse conceptual interpretations of the theme are executed with different styles and techniques. From the luminosity of rays of light bouncing off of a surface, to the joy and euphoria associated with the human body and soul, the exhibit captures the very essence of radiance. Within each artist’s reflection on the theme, curiosity, observation, scientific research and graphic imagery are all evident sources of inspiration for their work. Featuring paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture, this exhibition will be a vibrant representation of the works being created in our very own art classes and programs.
“Radiance” will be on display from February 20th through April 5th in the John Dunn Gourmet Dining Room on Santa Barbara City College East Campus. A light reception honoring the curator and exhibiting students will be held on Wednesday, February 20 from 5-7pm.
The Atkinson Gallery is very excited to be partnering with the Culinary Arts Program to continue the Annex's student curated student exhibition program. Culinary Arts is generously providing this space and refreshments for the Annex exhibitions while the Humanities building is under construction. The exhibition will be available for viewing during the Gourmet Dining Room’s regular hours: Monday – Friday, 11:30am - 12:45pm and Thursday – Friday, 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
