CHAOS & CREATION
CHAOS & CREATION
February 5 - March 14, 2014
The student-run Atkinson Gallery Annex is a long-standing tradition of the Atkinson Gallery. The Annex proudly hosts student exhibitions curated by the Atkinson Gallery Intern.
The Atkinson Gallery is very excited to be partnering with the John Dunn Gourmet Dining Room to continue this student driven program.
Chaos & Creation features a group of ten talented student artists from Santa Barbara City College whose conceptual interpretations of the theme are executed with different materials, styles, and techniques. Through the creative process and the expressiveness of each artist, chaos is controlled and managed. All of the artworks exhibited have an implied narrative and illustrate the emotions caused by chaos and creation. One cannot have chaos without creation (nor creation without chaos) as they are intrinsically linked. In chaos – when imagination is reborn and the depth of emotion is explored – artists find creation. Featuring paintings, etchings, drawings, prints, and sculpture, this broad selection of works is a representation of the student work created in the Art Department here at SBCC.
The Atkinson Gallery Annex is honored to show the works of these wonderful student artists:
Byron Blanco, Randy Boschee, Nicole Cohen, Sasha Colbert, Journey Coward, Seeon Kim, Carlos Padilla, Thomas Rubio, Amber Silva, and Marcia Smith.
Lia deWit, Curator
Atkinson Gallery Intern
Exhibitions are available for viewing during the Gourmet Dining Room’s regular hours:
Monday –Friday, 11:30am - 12:45pm
and Thursday – Friday, 5:30pm - 6:30pm
